Last Wednesday, charterinad.com caught the first squids of the 2025 season in Barcelona using the fishing technique known as bottom fishing with squid jigs. We practiced squid fishing on a private sport fishing charter for two expert and motivated fishermen from Florida, who enjoyed an exclusive and technical sport fishing day from a boat in the sea of Barcelona. We organized a private fishing trip for them to experience different fishing techniques: bottom fishing, bottom fishing for squid and cuttlefish, and trolling, with both live bait trolling and artificial bait trolling.
Practicing these different techniques allowed us to catch a beautiful bonito and horse mackerels using light trolling with Rapala or artificial bait. We also caught a barracuda while trolling with live horse mackerels and, through bottom fishing, we caught pink dentex, red seabream, comber, and two beautiful squids using bottom fishing with squid jigs.
We enjoyed a complete, fun, and varied fishing excursion, where we practiced the main sport fishing techniques from a fishing boat.
