Chapter 7 · Engines, Electronics and a New Way to Experience Sport Fishing
Last Tuesday, October 20, we visited the OLBAP shipyard to follow the progress of the OLBAP TR12 Marín(us). We are getting closer to bringing to life a project born from our passion for the sea and our commitment to sustainable and responsible fishing.
The two 250 hp Suzuki engines are now installed. The helm station features the roof, console and Garmin electronics, including a GPSMAP 1223xsv chartplotter, GT23M-TM transducer, VHF radio with DSC and integrated GPS, and AIS 800 transponder.
We have also incorporated an Airmar 110WX weather station, because a good fishing day starts before leaving the harbour. Recording wind, atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity will complement weather forecasts and help us better assess changing conditions while underway. Our priority is to make responsible decisions and prevent risks.
Every detail reflects our sport fishing experience, from the layout of the rod holders and seating to access points and working areas. The trimaran design, with its three hulls, provides a stable platform and a spacious, open deck designed to make moving around, handling catches and sharing the experience more comfortable.
We want the Marín(us) to make sport fishing accessible both to experienced anglers looking to improve their skills and to newcomers, families and people with reduced mobility.
The new OLBAP TR12 will be the platform for our upcoming sport fishing experiences, boat charters and activities departing from Port Olímpic in Barcelona. Its electronic equipment will also support collaboration in developing new technologies to improve safety in recreational boating.
We are not simply building a boat for fishing. We are designing a better sport fishing experience in Barcelona.
