At Charterinad.com, one of our recent private fishing trips off the coast of Barcelona became an exciting barracuda fishing experience.
The day was planned as a relaxed combination of fishing, swimming, and enjoying the Mediterranean Sea. However, our fishing guide quickly identified the right conditions to try natural-bait trolling.
Using a Sabiki jig – jigging fishing , we first caught horse mackerel, which were then prepared as fresh natural bait for trolling. During the first pass, a powerful bluefish attacked the bait and took almost everything, leaving only the head of the horse mackerel on the hook.
On the second pass, the strike was decisive. This time, the fish did not escape, and we successfully landed a beautiful barracuda in front of Barcelona.

During the trip, participants can learn and practise several sport-fishing techniques:
Bottom Fishing
This technique is practised with the boat drifting naturally, using a bottom-fishing rod and natural bait to target different species found along the Barcelona coastline.
Light Jigging with Sabiki Jigs
Sabiki fishing is similar to bottom fishing, but instead of natural bait, it uses feathers or artificial lures. It is ideal for catching horse mackerel and mackerel. This is a dynamic and exciting technique using light artificial rigs, often called Sabiki rigs or “feather rigs”, together with a small artificial jig.
Light Trolling
Light trolling is usually practised after bottom fishing and jigging, with the objective of searching for a larger and more memorable catch. It is often the final challenge of the day and can produce unforgettable moments on board.
Beyond fishing, our private sport-fishing charters and fishing workshops are also an opportunity to strengthen family relationships and share quality time in a unique setting. Parent and children package: €175 for two places, sharing one bottom-fishing rod.
Two anglers / two rods: €200.
