The coastal trolling season for tuna species begins in Barcelona

Home / Blog / The coastal trolling season for tuna species begins in Barcelona

September and October bring one of the most exciting periods for recreational sea fishing in Barcelona: the coastal trolling season for tuna species.

During these months, the Mediterranean waters off Barcelona offer the possibility of encountering different tuna species and other pelagic predators. Little tunny, Atlantic bonito, bullet tuna and juvenile tuna can provide particularly active and exciting fishing sessions while coastal trolling.

For experienced anglers, but also for people discovering recreational fishing for the first time, this is a particularly interesting time of year to enjoy a fishing trip at sea and experience the excitement of detecting a strike, fighting the fish and putting your fishing skills and equipment to the test.

At Charterinad.com, we organise fishing charters and fishing adventures from a motorboat in Barcelona, designed for experienced anglers as well as families, groups of friends and people who want to discover sea fishing for the first time.

Coastal trolling and predator fishing

Coastal trolling is one of the most exciting techniques during this period of the year. It allows us to cover different fishing areas while looking for predator activity and learning to interpret key factors such as depth, trolling speed, the presence of baitfish and the activity we can observe on the surface.

In addition to tuna species, September and October can also offer the opportunity to catch dorado, or mahi-mahi, one of the most spectacular fish to target because of its power, fast runs and impressive jumps out of the water during the fight.

For us, however, a fishing trip is not simply about catching fish. It is also about learning to understand the sea, identifying marine species, understanding their behaviour and enjoying the activity while respecting the marine environment.

Fishing, learning and respecting the sea

The philosophy behind Charterinad.com is based on three principles: fish, learn and respect.

Whenever conditions allow, we encourage catch and release, particularly when targeting species that require greater protection or whose conservation is essential to maintaining the balance of the marine ecosystem.

We want our customers not only to enjoy a day of fishing, but also to take home knowledge and experience that they can apply on their future trips to sea.

Fishing adventures in Barcelona

At Charterinad.com, we design and organise fishing trips and excursions from a motorboat in Barcelona, using different recreational fishing techniques depending on the time of year, sea conditions and experience level of the participants.

These include:

  • Bottom fishing.
  • Sabiki jigging.
  • Coastal trolling.
  • Spinning.
  • Techniques targeting different predator species.
  • Identification of marine species.
  • Introduction to reading the fish finder and locating productive fishing areas.

Our objective is simple: every trip should be an opportunity to learn something new while enjoying the sea.

Sharing our passion for fishing since 2012

Since 2012, we have been organising private recreational fishing charters in Barcelona, from trips of a few hours to full-day experiences.

Over the years, we have also developed fishing workshops and courses for beginners and more experienced anglers, designed both for people who want to improve their fishing skills and for those taking their first steps into this fascinating activity.

One of our distinctive services is our shared fishing trips, available on a per-seat basis, allowing anglers and companions to share a day on board with other people who share the same passion.

It is a different way of fishing: meeting new anglers, sharing techniques and experiences and enjoying a nautical activity at a more accessible price.

Upcoming fishing workshops

During September, our fishing workshops are fully booked and there are currently no places available.

For October, we currently have one confirmed date:

17 October — Recreational Fishing Workshop
Only 2 places available.

We are also considering opening a new date on:

Saturday 31 October

This additional trip will depend on demand and on the number of anglers joining our fishing waiting list, allowing us to form groups and share our fishing adventures.
